Hi All!
Here is your weekly dose of Foraging Friday, a list of what I’m pondering and exploring.
We’re now in Florida. Over these last few days, i’ve enjoyed eating some new tropics fruits! They include starfruit, avocado, mango, and Barbados cherry, and peanut butter fruit.
What I’m reading
“Cultural Transmission Among Aka Pygmies” by Barry S. Hewlett.
Fifty skills were documented in this study. They include hunting with nets, food gathering and preparation, building huts and planting gardens, infant care, sharing, and dancing.
Here’s an excerpt from the paper:
“Moreover, enculturation of pygmies is early; about 70% of all skills have been acquired by age 10, and more than 80% (practically all those of significance for survival) by age 15.”
Podcast episode I’m listening to
I’ve just finished another episode of Dr. Mercola’s “Take Control of Your Health” podcast! This episode is called “Ways to Boost Athletic Performance- Discussion Between James DiNicolantonio, Siim Land & Dr. Mercola”.
In this discussion, they go into some less-known techniques. One example that they draw upon is how including salt into your diet, can provide an unfair advantage when exercising, and give you an edge.
Quotes I’m pondering
“Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.” ― Margaret Mead
Have a wonderful weekend, all.
Much love to you and yours,
Max
